Reclaim provides stable and safe jobs in waste management for women and young people in the Kathmandu valley. Providing decent work in a country where most waste employees work in devastating conditions was one of our motivations behind starting Reclaim Nepal. We train our staff in occupational health and safety and provide personal protection equipment to ensure a safe working environment, thus creating a positive and content team spirit. Reclaim covers all its staff and their family with health and accident insurance, and offers income security. 

Nepal still lacks industrialisation and jobs in the country and is still dependent on labour migration and remittance. Many Nepali have to work abroad to support their family - a family they often don’t see for years as a consequence. Reclaim’s plastic recycling value chain creates direct and indirect jobs. Industrial and service investments in the rule have strong multiplication effects on jobs and economic activity. A knowledge transfer (from India and the Netherlands) will further trigger the development of SMEs and support the creation of more knowledge-intensive jobs.
